the cell.

the cell is an adaptive reuse project using the 110 milam building in houston, tx. the building serves as a multi-purpose building that has an open air welcome center on the ground floor. There is minimal construction on the first floor and remains open to avoid the need for renovations when there is flooding in houston. the upper floors can be used as study and presentation spaces as well as host art exhibitions and offer some history about the old brewery that the cell has now taken over. the voronoi style pattern of the building is supposed to be representative of a cell that has encased the building and is growing into something completely new. The outer shell is comprised of concrete and glass to allow for visibility onto the bayou as well as offer views of downtown houston.
